Youth Outreach Concept

IDGC of Centre, JSC pursues an extensive policy of graduate engagement. The main areas of activity under the current Regulation on Youth Outreach are as follows:

  • professional orientation in schools aimed at organisation, development and improvement of long-term forms of professional orientation of school students to work in the Company;
  • identification and selection of the most worthy and trained high school students for specific education at the relevant educational institutions;
  • cooperation with educational institutions of higher, secondary and primary professional education under cooperation agreements in the sphere of target training, retraining and professional of specialists;
  • target training of recruits in the educational institutions under the respective agreement;
  • organisation of target and system-based production/pre-graduation practice under the respective agreement;
  • establishment of educational grants of IDGC of Centre, JSC in order to increase the importance of education, engage the most talented and purpose-driven youth in the power industry, and lend social support for gifted students at educational institutions;
  • individual appointment of graduates of educational institutions under respective agreements;
  • compensation for housing for non-resident recruitees;
  • assistance to educational institutions to provide for high-quality target training of students in knowledge and skills relevant to the Company’s core business, and enhancing and improving of training and laboratory facilities of higher educational institutions (specialised secondary educational institutions) under respective agreements.

In 2011, IDGC of Centre, JSC continued to work towards making the electrical power industry an attractive career option. In the reporting year professional orientation meetings were arranged with the graduates of secondary schools and gymnasiums in the regions and districts of operation of IDGC of Centre, JSC. Thus, in 2011 professional orientation activities covered several thousands of students of different educational institutions: excursions to power industry museums, Network Control Centres, distribution zones, and substationsSubstation, electric installation designed to convert and distribute electric power were arranged for the students.

Open days were arranged by the distribution zones of the Company’s branches for senior year pupils and students of higher and specialised secondary educational institutions. During these meetings students have had the opportunity to communicate with experienced specialists, learn the history of establishment of the respective branch, take a look at the operations carried out by operating departments and duty subdivisions and get acquainted with technical equipment.

The Company’s branches provided for production and pre-graduation work experience for students of specialised secondary and higher education institutions. Such forms of cooperation allow them to evaluate the personal and business potential of the future power engineers, their knowledge and skills and to motivate them to further work in the Company. Engaging of graduates to work in the branches was performed within cooperation with the following higher education institutions: Ivanovo State Power Engineering University (ISPEU), Moscow Power Engineering Institution (Smolensk Branch), Yaroslavl State Agricultural Academy, Belgorod Shukhov State Technological University (BSTU), Voronezh State Technical University (VORSTU), Voronezh Power Engineering Secondary Technical School, FGOU VPO Orel State Agricultural University, Lipetsk State Technical University and Bryansk State Agricultural Academy.

In 2011, Youth Councils continued their work in all branches of the Company; their major objective is to establish effective relationship with young employees, develop creativity, research and engineering initiatives, extensively participate in the production, social and cultural activities in IDGC of Centre, JSC. Activities in this direction are performed in accordance with the Regulation on Youth Councils and approved action plan for the respective year and involvw research and engineering, cultural and sporting events, and housing and community.

Recruits (graduates of educational institutions) undergo practical training for a period of one year in order to accelerate the process of adaptation to the Company; to identify managerial abilities, business and personal qualities; and to assist them in acquiring of practical and managerial skills; and to prepare them to independent work in the Company. The practical training of newcomers is ensured and arranged pursuant to the Regulations on the Arrangement and Conducting of Practical Training of Recruits — Graduates of Educational Establishments. At the subdivision new staff are trained by practical training officers, who, as a rule, remain their tutors for two subsequent years of their work.
